Dr Deonarain is a Canadian doctor working and living in New Zealand, trained in emergency and urgent care. He completed the Diploma in Mountain Medicine in Nepal, worked with the HRA in Pheriche, and returns to volunteer at the Everest ER. Dinesh had a big year in 2018 when he and wife Gemma welcomed their first child to the world!
Dr. Pawan Karki
Dr. Karki is a medical officer working in Kathmandu. He completed the Diploma in Mountain Medicine in 2018 and has been involved in Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal for 8 years. He coordinated ‘Climbing for Fun’ for MMSN in 2017. He enjoys rock climbing, cycling, hiking and trekking. He has worked with HRA in Gosainkunda Health Camp and Pupal Health Camp for Yarsa Pickers in Rukum.
Dr McCormack is an Irish born medical graduate who has spent the bulk of her medical career in Australia (she calls herself a proud adopted Aussie.) A general practitioner, she has worked with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, working in many remote locations all over Australia, and in rural Canada, The Falkland Islands, Western Province Papua New Guinea and the HRA clinic at Manang. Deirdre looks forward to her 4th trip to Nepal volunteer at Everest ER.
Lakpa Norbu Sherpa joins us for his 17th season as our logistics manager. A loyal employee of the HRA since the clinics’ inception in 2003, we couldn’t run our operations without his considerable expertise. An accomplished climber, Lakpa is also one of the most achieved long line technical rescuers in Nepal, having completed technical rescue training internationally and in Nepal. Lakpa is from Kari Khola, Solukhumbu Nepal and the proud father of 2 young boys.
